I've been wanting to purchase Benefit Roller Lash Mascara for quite some time now but as it's quite a pricey product, I was reluctant. Last week I decided to treat myself and order it.
When I received the product and used it for the first time, I decided to do a first impressions post as I've never done one before and I feel like my first impression of the product will be very different to my opinion when I review the product in a few weeks time. Normally I wouldn't do a first impression post and a review post on the same product as they can be quite similar but on this occasion, I decided it would be appropriate.
I'll start this by saying that when I bought the product, I didn't know much about it. Of course I know of Benefit and I'd heard about this product and seen it around in a few shops but I'd not actually seen anyone wear it etc. Like any other person, I saw the product and heard about all the amazing reviews and decided I really wanted to try it!
I had to wait quite a while between ordering the product and receiving the product (I'm not sure why but postage/delivery took forever!!) which meant that I was extremely excited when it finally arrived and by this point, I had very high expectations.
When I received the product, of course I tried it straight away and to be totally honest, I wasn't that impressed. I was expecting to fall in love with the product as soon as I received it but I didn't. It's not a bad mascara at all and I don't dislike it but I feel that personally, it didn't live up to my expectations.
I personally found that Benefit Roller Lash didn't hold the curl in my lashes, I seemed to loose the curl as soon as I put the product on and this is one of the things the mascara is supposed to be good at? I also found that if I put the slightest bit too much on, it went a little clumpy and my lashes stuck together which I didn't expect from such a high end product. I found that the product took quite a while to dry (But it's not very transferable which is positive!) and if I moved my lashes too much before the product had dried, I'd lose the shape and the end of my lashes would bend and clump.
Now I will say that I'm EXTREMELY fussy when it comes to mascaras! I can never find any I like. The only mascara that I've found that I really love is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara which you've probably heard me rave about. BUT I think that part of the reason I wasn't as amazed with Benefit Roller Lash Mascara as I thought I would be is because my go to mascara is Maybelline Lash Sensational and Roller Lash is very very similar to Lash Sensational but more high end. I feel like if I didn't regularly use Maybelline Lash Sensational then I would be amazed with Benefit Roller Lash. I'd love it if you guys that haven't used Maybelline Lash Sensational but have used Benefit Roller Lash could tell me what you think on this.
On a positive note, I usually don't really like using mascaras that aren't waterproof as I hate feeling like my makeup could run but so far, in this aspect, Benefit Roller Lash has been amazing. It hasn't run at all but is super easy to take off at the end of the day. Also it's really easy to wear this product without having to wear anything else on my eyes (Eyeliner, eyeshadow) which I love as I often feel I have to wear other products to make my eyes stand out.
I just want to say that I don't dislike the mascara, I do like it a lot, I still choose to wear it and it does have it's benefits but like I've previously said, my first impression of the product wasn't what I thought it would be.
I will have a review up of Benefit Roller Lash in a few weeks once I've had chance to properly make a judgement on the product so you'll be able to see if my first impression of the product is the same as my overall review.
