If you often read my blog, you've probably noticed that I haven't posted since the beginning of the week and I've been rather quiet on all of my social media! This is because I've had a stinking cold and haven't felt up to sitting on my laptop (Sorry guys!). I always find that when I'm unwell, I find it so much harder to think of things to blog and even if I have a massive list of posts that I need to write, I don't have the motivation. So I was sat racking my brains of a different blog post I could do and I thought why not write about the methods I'm using to recover from my cold!
Hydrate
Get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids. Drinking water helps thin mucus in the lungs. Drinking water will help to wash the illness out of your system faster.
Steam! Steam! Steam!
Inhaling warm, moist air can help thin out and loosen mucus. Lean your head over a bowl of boiling hot water and breath as much steam in as possible but be careful not to burn yourself!
Use A Vapour Rub
This is one thing I'm religious to when I have a cold! Spread a bit of vapour rub onto a tissue and breath it in through your nose. It'll help to unblock your nose and airways naturally without having to blow your nose. Blowing your nose causes your sinuses to inflame which actually blocks you up more!
Rest
It's important for your body to recharge and a good nights sleep will help you get your strength back as quick as possible and help build your immune system back up to fight off your illness.
Sweat It Out
Now I know this one sounds a bit contradictory after I've just told you to rest but doing something to boost your pulse and make you sweat will help your body to sweat out your illness. If you feel up to it, I always recommend this step!
