I was sat doing my course work the other night, getting all stressed out and worked up because I have so much work and no time to do anything. Course work can get so stressful and confusing, especially when you have 5 assignments on the go with around the same deadline and so many other things to do to! So I thought what better post to write than how I de-stress when doing course work!
Take A Break
If you've been sat doing course work for a while and feel yourself getting stressed out, take a break! Get up and walk around, grab a drink or a snack or just sit and watch a quick Youtube video. I find that taking a break when course work is stressing me out is one of the best things I can do as it gives me 10 minutes to reset my thoughts and get a fresh outlook on things. Try not to make your breaks too long as you don't want to forget what you were doing or lose your motivation. Personally, I like to take 10 minute breaks.
Plan Out Exactly What You Need To Do And How You're Going To Do It
I cannot express how much planning helps to take away so much stress when doing course work! Look at your assignment criteria and write a list of everything that you need to include in a way that you'll understand. This way you'll have a broken down version that you'll understand and you'll be able to tick things off as you go.
Make A Warm Drink
Warm drinks are the perfect way to relax. Whenever I'm feeling stressed with my work, I save where I am, go and get a warm drink and then come back to my course work with a calm and open mind. Having a warm drink will help you to de-stress, calm down and re-focus on your work.
Light A Candle
Need I explain this one?! Who doesn't love lighting a candle when they're trying to relax? Candles naturally make me feel calm and de-stressed. What better time to use them than when you're all stressed out while doing course work? Light a candle and put it in your view; the scent, warmth and even just having it there, will help you to de-stress when doing coursework and all around make you more relaxed and focused.
Put Some Calming Music On In The Background
I don't know about you guys but I have two different types of playlist; A lively playlist that I can bounce around to and have fun and a playlist full of more calming music that relaxes me and makes me happy. When you're sat doing your coursework and getting all stressed out, your minds going 10 to the dozen about all the things you need to get done and all the things you're struggling with. Putting some calming music on in the background will help clear your mind, put you in a good mood again and therefore be able to focus on your coursework.
Make Yourself Comfy
Being uncomfortable naturally puts you in a bad mood so being uncomfortable while doing your coursework is a big recipe for disaster! If you're uncomfortable while doing your course work, you're going to be stressed and not be able to focus. Grab a cushion and some blankets, make yourself comfortable and crack on!
Prioritise Your Tasks
If you're trying to do all of your coursework tasks at the same time, you're naturally going to stress about getting them all done and on time. Instead, sit and write a list of all the tasks you have to get done in order of what needs to be done first. You'll have no reason to stress over what needs to be done when.
Hopefully this helps you to de-stress while doing your course work and have an all round calmer experience! What do you do to de-stress from coursework or school work? Let me know in the comments!
Hope you enjoy guys!
